SILANGWA and MIENGWE:
THE MAYO-Mwana PROJECT IN RURAL AREA
The Mayo- Mwana Project began its activities' in 2003 and Silangwa Miengwe, rural area of \u200b\u200bthe city 'of Ndola, belonging to the District of Masaiti. The area
'predominantly inhabited by tribes' Lamba, but can also be found Bemba, Tonga, Lala, Lozi and Tumbuka. People live in small villages , family type, where the activities' are represented by the prevailing cultivation of corn and coal production. There 'are also those who take a while' of hens for eggs and meat, and who has some cow or ox, used more 'for meat, milk and for towing small cars.
The villages are small houses made with mud bricks and thatched roofs, which are typically replaced at each new rainy season.
The woman cooking outside, in a sort of hut with no walls, a rounded roof, called "nsaka" or "mbalasa.

Il nostro progetto di Silangwa comprende molte attivita’, di cui al momento la preminente e’ quella agraria. La terra di cui disponiamo ha l'estensione di circa dodici ettari e ci e’ stata data dal Chief Nkambo , capo-tribu’ Lamba della zona, nel 2003. Thanks to the contribution of ROTARY FOUNDATION , achieved last year with the commitment of ROTARY CLUB OF ENNA and collaboration of the Rotary Club of Ndola , and 'was created a well, which has enabled our activities' to increase agricultural production.

Al momento il team del programma agrario e’ impegnato nella realizzazione di una nuova opera: stiamo costruendo una porcilaia per avviare un ALLEVAMENTO DI SUINI . Il programma si sta attuando in collaborazione con la PREFETTURA DI ENNA . Il nostro Prefetto, la Dr.ssa Giuliana Perrotta, da Signora sensibile e concreta quale e', con la campagna “Dal Sud d’Italia al Sud del Mondo”, ha coinvolto l’intera Provincia di Enna in una serie di iniziative a scopo benefico che hanno consentito di raccogliere la cospicua cifra di diecimila euro.
Purtroppo il protrarsi delle piogge ha ritardato l’avvio dei lavori di costruzione, previsto per l’inizio di Aprile e slittato al mese di Giugno. Il problema fondamentale, infatti, e’ che i mattoni vengono fatti tutti a mano, utilizzando la terra dei termitai ed uno stampo particolare. Per costruire la porcilaia servono ben 9,000 mattoni! Una volta fatti, i mattoni vanno cotti. Si realizzano delle grandi strutture, i forni, le cui pareti sono fatte dagli stessi mattoni da cuocere, tra i quali viene lasciato un spazio per la ventilazione. Apart from the activities' agricultural and livestock products, we also have to Silangwa BUSINESS 'SOCIAL. first recalled the Centro Studi "Freed Zambia 2001" , so called 'because' the structure of the center and 'a prefab and there' was donated by the fact Liberato Zambia 2001 Ancona. The center 'usually attended by a group of 38 children ( Youth Association "Hippo Club") who have the opportunity' to consult books of various kinds, using the computer and investigate school subjects, thanks to a teacher who after-school care is absolutely free of charge with Mr. Nseluka. Altra attivita’ sociale rilevante e’ la presenza di un’Associazione Femminile , nata nel 2003 come mezzo di inserimento di donne sieropositive per HIV, spesso emarginate ed escluse dalla vita familiare e lavorativa. Le donne svolgono numerose attivita’ artigianali ma soprattutto di sartoria. Ormai si gestiscono del tutto autonomamente e noi le aiutiamo solamente dando loro in uso uno dei nostri locali, dove si riuniscono bisettimanalmente per lavorare. Anche quella del gruppo femminile e’ una IGA poiche’ riesce ad assicurare alle donne un minimo reddito; infatti i prodotti di sartoria vengono venduti al mercato locale con un discreto guadagno.
Infine, ma non meno importante, dobbiamo ricordare che l’Associazione Twafwane sostiene la Clinica Rurale di Miengwe , assicurando farmaci ed infermiera, grazie alle donazioni dell’Associazione Spagnola HUMI .
